UN Sustainable development Goals

The following are the main points:
  • In 2015, the UN adopted 17 sustainable goals and 169 targets to transform the world
  • It came to force on 1 January 2016
  • We need to achieve by 2030.
  • National Action plan on sustainable development in Indian is set up under the NITI Aayog:
    • Mapping of governments scheme to SDGs 
    • Minister of statistics and program implementation is developing the indicators of SDGs  



The following are the 17 SDGs:

  • Goal-1: No Poverty
  • Goal-2: Zero Hunger
  • Goal-3: Good Health and Wellbeing: 
  • Goal-4: Quality Education
  • Goal-5:  Gender Equality
  • Goal-6: Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Goal-7: Affordable and clean energy
  • Goal-8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Goal-9: III(Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)
  • Goal-10: Reduced Inequality
  • Goal-11: Sustainable cities and communities
  • Goal-12: Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Goal-13: Climate Action
  • Goal-14: Life Below Water
  • Goal-15: Life on Land
  • Goal-16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institute
  • Goal-17: Partnership for the Goals
