 What is culture?

Culture is nothing but the way of life and the way of life is shaped by geographical topography, climate, ethnicity, and language. The way of life includes both materialists and non-materialist.

The materialistic way of life includes: 

  • Food
  • Clothes
  • Houses

Non-Materialistic includes:

  • Belief
  • Values
  • Language
  • Songs
  • Festival
  • music


What are the cultural regions?

Cultural regions are geographical areas having homogeneity in the way of life.

From a world perspective, the following are the world's major cultural regions:

  • Western Culture or Occidental culture or European Culture
  • Anglo-American Culture
  • Slavic Culture or Russian culture
  • Latin American Culture
  • Islamic Culture regions
  • Sub Sahar African
  • Australia-European cultural region
  • Southeast Asian Cultural region
  • Sino Japanese cultural region
  • Indic or Indian culture or Hindu Culture region


Indian culture regions are further divided into the following parts:

Garo and Khasi tribe follow Matrilineal law where youngest daughter will stay with parent and inherit the arent property with the name of mother and husband of the same will stay in mother inlaw house.

Other parts of India follow the Patriarchal norms where boys inherit the property of the parent.
