Difference between geomorphic agents and geomorphic processes

Question:

What is the difference between geomorphic agents and geomorphic processes?

Answer:

Geomorphic process:

  • Endogenic and exogenic forces that cause physical stress and chemical actions action the earth's materials and changes in the configuration of the earth's surface is called the geomorphic process.
  • For example,
    • Diastrophism and volcanism are endogenic geomorphic processes and weathering, erosion, and deposition are exogenic geomorphic processes.

Geomorphic agents:

  • Exogenic elements that are capable of acquiring and transporting earth materials can be called geomorphic agents.
  • For example,
    • water, ice, winds, wave, etc are geomorphic agents.

Difference between the Geomorphic process and Geomorphic agents:

  • Geomorphic processes are types of forces while geomorphic agents are the mobile medium like running water, waves, moving ice, currents, etc.
