Answer.

Types of the fold:

Under stress and pressure, rock may undergo folding.

There are three types of folds:

  • Anticlines
  • Synclines
  • Monoclines
Types of fold


Anticlines: 

  • Anticlines are folded rocks that are arched up, closed up, and bend upward.

Synclines:

  • Synclines are folded rocks that are arched down, opened up, and bend downward.

Monoclines:

  • Monoclines are had just bend-like limbs.


ii. Block mountains:

Block mountains are formed faulting on a large scale which is caused by the endogenic force. Uplifted parts are called Horst and lowering parts or valley parts are called Graben.

For example, The following are examples of Block mountains:

  • Black forest mountain in Germany
  • Sierra Nevada in the USA
  • Vindhya and Satpura block mountains in India


iii. Basket of egg Topography

Sometimes glaciers deposit the moraine in an inverted boat-shaped or egg-like form, such deposition landforms are called drumlines. Many drumlines together create a new scene that looks like an egg lying on a basket and this is called the topography of an egg basket.
