 Question.

Explain the origin of the earth. (UPPSC 2016)

Answer.

Earth is one of the eight planets in our solar system that formed about 4.6 billion years ago from the local clumps of gases within a nebula that made up our solar system.

origin of the earth

Big Bang theory regarding the origin of the Earth,

The formation of the universe began about 13.7 billion years ago after the explosion of a tiny ball (singular atom) of an unimaginably small volume, infinite temperature, and infinite density.

In the early universe, the distribution of matter and energy was not uniform. There was the rise of unequal gravitational forces due to differences in density; As a result, substances began to accumulate in different factions. This leads to the formation of galaxies. The diameter of galaxies ranges from 80 k to 150 k light-years.

Within the galaxy, hydrogen gas continued to accumulate in the form of many giant clouds called Nebula.

Within the Nebula, many gas clumps developed. In nearly every gas clump, there was an accumulation of uniformly dense material that gave rise to stars. Stars are believed to have formed about 5 to 6 billion years ago. There can be many stars in a nebula.

Stars are localized clumps of gas within Nebula. The force of gravity within these clumps of gas leads to the formation of the core and it as also created a giant rotating disk of dust and gas around the core. Star( Sun) was formed in this core.

Over time, the gas cloud began to condense and the matter around the core grew into small circular objects. These small circular bodies are also called planetesimal and they were many in number.

Due to the collision of planetesimals and the attraction of gravity,  larger bodies(planets) began to form.

In the final stage, these large numbers of small planetesimals accrete to form fewer massive bodies known as planets. And there were eight planets in our solar system and Earth is one of them.

This is how the earth originated.
