Answer.

As per the poverty estimate 2011-12 report which was published by the planning commission, 21.92 % of India's population is below the poverty line

The following is a bar diagram of the top ten states having a high proportion of population below the poverty line.

  • Assam( 31.98 %)
  • Madhya Pradesh( 31.65 %)
  • Uttar Pradesh ( 29.43 %)
  • Karnataka(20.91)
  • Mizoram( 20.40 %)
