( Chapter - 6 Population, Cass 9 NCERT Contemporary India -I )

Answer.

There are some differences between population growth and population changes. The following are some differences between population growth and population changes:

Population growth means an increase in the number of populations whereas population change is a general word that means changes in numbers, distribution, or composition of the population.

There are three components of population growth namely birth rate, death rate, and migration while components of population changes are many like changes in ages, sex ratio changes, birth rate, death rate, migration, occupation changes, etc.

Population growth is always positive in number whereas population change can be positive, negative, or neutral in number.

Population growth is a quantitative tool to measure the size of the population whereas population change is both a quantitative and qualitative tool( like changes in the literate population).

Population growth is measured in two ways in terms of percentage and in terms of absolute number; whereas population changes can be measured in many ways like percentage changes in population, changes in sex ratio, changes in the working population, changes in absolute number, etc.
