Lakshadweep is a group of islands located in the Arabian Sea. The islands of the Lakshadweep group are formed by the accumulation of coral reefs and are located near the Kerala coast (Malabar Coast).

Before 1973, the Lakshadweep islands were known as Lakshadweep, Minicoy, and Amindiv, but since 1973, all the Indian islands present in the Arabian Sea are known as Lakshadweep. The total geographical area of ​​Lakshadweep islands is 32 sq km.

Kavaratti Island has the administrative headquarters of the Lakshadweep Islands. Pitti Island, part of the Lakshadweep group of islands, has a bird sanctuary that is uninhabited.
