Answer.
Renewable resources are those resources that are quickly renewed or replenished.
Following are the names of some renewable resources:
- solar energy
- wind power
- water
- Forest
- Soil
- wave energy
- bioenergy
Some renewable resources are limitless in nature such as solar and wind energy which are affected by human activities. Overuse does not affect their stock.
Some renewable resources are not unlimited in nature like forest resources; Due to the rapid rate of deforestation and the over-exploitation of forest resources by humans as compared to the natural replenishment of forests, the stock of forest resources has been depleted. Today there has been a decrease in the stock of forests in almost all cities and villages.
Some renewable resources are unlimited in nature like water and soil but overuse or careless use depletes the stock.
For example,
Water is unlimited in nature and about 71 percent of the earth's surface is covered with water, yet due to uneven distribution of water and overuse, there is a scarcity of water everywhere. Due to the increased consumption of water in various activities like agriculture and industrial processing, overuse of locally available water affects the water stock. In some places like Chennai, the groundwater is almost exhausted.
Soil is also an unlimited resource but soil erosion and soil pollution reduce the stock of soil; Due to human activities such as mining and deforestation, the rate of soil erosion is much faster than the rate of soil formation; This is the reason that there has been a decrease in soil stock due to overuse.
