Why houses in Assam are built on stilts?

Answer.
The food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the kind of house we live in are all affected/controlled by the climate.
The plains of Assam are flood-prone areas, almost every year the Brahmaputra river floods most parts of the plains of Assam. Therefore, to mitigate the effect of floods in Assam, houses are usually built above ground which is called stilts. Stilts are houses that are built on bamboo poles.
