The following region of India receives more than 400 cm annually:

  • The western part of the Western Ghats [ between the south of Mumbai to Kerala].
  • Meghalaya
  • The upper part of Assam
  • The southern and middle parts of Arunachal Pradesh
  • Lakshadweep island group
  • Andaman and Nicobar island group
