Answer.

According to variation in relief, northern plains are divided into four regions-

  • Bhabar region
  • Terai region
  • Bhangar region
  • Khadar region


About Bhabar:

Bhabar region is also known as the Bhabhar region. 

Bhabar region lies south of the slopes of Shiwaliks(the southern ranges of the Himalayas)and hence it lies parallel to Southern Himalayas.

Bhabar region is a narrow belt about 8 to 16 km in width.

In the Bhabar region, the river came up from the mountainous region and deposits pebbles.

Due to the huge presence of pebbles and boulders, river streams in the Bhabar belt disappear and flows under pebbles.

Bhabar region is found extensively in the Uttarakhand and some largest cities like Kumaon and Ramnagar are located in the Bhabar region.
