Give reasons, some rocks have a shape of a mushroom.

Question.

Give reasons, some rocks have a shape of a mushroom.

( Chapter - 3 Our Changing Earth, Class 7 NCERT, Our Environment( Geography) )

Answer.

In desert areas, some rocks are in the shape of a mushroom. Because wind is the most active agent for the formation of landforms in desert areas. Winds erode the lower part of the rock more than the upper part. Therefore, the base of such rocks is narrow and the top is broad. Rocks that have a narrow base and broad top are commonly known as mushroom rocks.

That is why some rocks have a shape of a mushroom.
