Which two gases make up the bulk of the atmosphere?

Answer.

Our earth is surrounded by a huge blanket of the air called atmosphere. Nitrogen ( 78 percent) and Oxygen ( 21 percent) are two gases that make up the bulk of the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, helium, ozone, argon, and hydrogen are found in lesser quantities.

The following are major air that constitutes the atmosphere:

  • Nitrogen ( about 78 percent)
  • Oxygen ( about 21 percent )
  • Argon ( about 0.93 percent)
  • Carbon dioxide ( about 0.03 percent)


Nitrogen has the largest share in the atmosphere; plants need nitrogen for survival.
