Examine the impacts of the new schemes introduced in the 2021-22 budget of the Uttar Pradesh State government on the socio-economic system of the state.

( UPPSC, UP PCS Mains General Studies-III/GS-3 2021)

Answer.

The Finance minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Suresh Khanna presented the state budget for the financial year 2021-22. The following new schemes were introduced in the 2021-22 budget of the Uttar Pradesh state government on the socio-economic system of the state-

  • Atmanirbhar Krishak Samanvit Vikas Yojna
  • Mukhyamantri Saksham Suposhan Yojana
  • Mukhyamantri Pravasi Shramik Udyamita Vikas Yojana

Atmanirbhar Krishak Samanvit Vikas Yojna;

This new scheme was introduced to achieve the doubling of farmers' income by 2022. It will focus on the identification of more productive crops in each agri-climatic zone, promote new technology, and investment to improve productivity, and develop markets for distribution. This scheme has very good objectives, however only 100 crore INR are allotted for the scheme, I think it will not be sufficient for such a big agriculture state.

Mukhyamantri Saksham Suposhan Yojana;

This new scheme was introduced to combat the issue of malnutrition of women and children. Under this scheme, nutritional supplements will be provided to children below five years of age, and girls between 11 to 14 years of age who are suffering from anemia.

Mukhyamantri Pravasi Shramik Udyamita Vikas Yojana;

This new scheme was introduced to provide employment and self-employment to workers who have returned back to the state due to COVID-19.

In conclusion, the above three schemes will play a vital role in the socio-economic development of the state as they care for marginalized communities like poor farmers, children, girls, and poor laborers affected by COVID-19.
