PM Gati Shakti Yojna is a 100-billion-dollar infrastructure development program that was launched by the government of India in October-2021. The aim of the scheme is to improve the efficiency of transportation infrastructure by creating an integrated and multi-model transport system. It aims to establish and integrate different infrastructure sector projects such as National Highways, Railways, ports, airports, Waterways, Multimodal logistics Parks, Telecom, etc.
PM Gati Shakti Yojna is based on six pillars-
- Comprehensiveness
- Prioritization
- Optimization
- Synchronization
- Analytical
- Dynamic
Comprehensiveness: It will include all the existing and planned initiatives of various ministries and departments ( about 16 departments) with one centralized portal.
Prioritization: Through PM Gati Shakti's scheme, the different department can prioritize their projects through cross-departmental interaction.
Optimization: This scheme will assist in choosing the fastest and least expensive path to execute the project.
Synchronization: PM Gati Shakti aims to aid in the holistic synchronization of each department and ministry as well as various layers of administration.
Analytical: The scheme will compile all the data in one location using GIS-based planning and analytical tools.
Dynamic: All ministries and departments will now be able to visualize, review, and monitor the cross-sectoral projects.
PM Gati Shakti Yojna has the potential to create competitiveness and better connectivity in India by improving transportation infrastructure, reducing transportation costs, and enhancing connectivity between different regions and different modes of transport. This will enable Indian products to be more competitive in the global market.
The development of multi-model logistics parks can help attract investment in warehousing, transportation, and other related services, which also create new jobs and businesses.
