Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA ( Scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters) Yojana is a flagship scheme launched by the Government of India in 2017. It is a flagship project aiming to create modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management. It aims to strengthen the supply chain of agricultural products from farm to retail outlet [from farmer to consumer].

The main objective of Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA is to strengthen the infrastructure for agro-processing industries, reduce wastage, and enhance the value addition of agricultural produce.


The followings are some objectives and provisions of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana:


Supplement Agriculture and Infrastructure Development: 

The scheme aims to develop modern infrastructure that supplements agriculture and food processing. Infrastructure development under this scheme includes the development of Mega Food Parks, Integrated Cold Chain, preservation infrastructure ( cold storage and Packaging units), and creation of backward and forward linkages.


Modernise Processing: 

It focuses on creating processing and preservation facilities with an aim to value addition to agricultural produce. It aims to transform raw agricultural commodities into value-added products like juices, canned fruits, dairy products, meat products, and processed foods.


Enhancing consumer Confidence by promoting Food Safety and Quality: 

It aims to ensure that processed food products meet the required quality and safety standards, thereby enhancing consumer confidence.


Reduction of Food Wastage:

The Scheme aims to reduce post-harvest losses and food wastage by promoting efficient storage and processing of agricultural produce. It aims to enhance the shelf life of perishable produce and minimize losses due to inadequate storage and transportation facilities.


Financial Assistance: 

The government aims to provide financial assistance in the form of grants-in-aid to eligible entities. This includes the establishment of new processing units, modernization of existing units, capacity building, and market promotion.  

In conclusion, Pradhan Manti Kisan SAMPADA yojans aim to improve agro-processing, reduce post-harvest losses, enhance infrastructure, promoting value addition, and the scheme aims to benefit farmers, processors, consumers, and the overall economy.
