An isthmus is a narrow strip of land that connects two larger landmasses and such a narrow strip of land is also bordered by water on two sides. 


The following are major Isthmus of the world-


Isthmus of Panama: 

The Isthmus of Panama connects North and South America and separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Pacific Ocean.


Isthmus of Suez: 

The Isthmus of Suez connects the continents of Africa and Asia and separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Red Sea.


Isthmus of Kra:

The Isthmus of Kra is located in Thailand, it connects the Malay Peninsula to mainland Asia.


Isthmus of Corinth: 

The Isthmus of Corinth connects the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece and separates the Gulf of Corinth from the Saronic Gulf.
