The following are different types of precipitation:

Rains:

Frozen precipitation melts in contact with warm air and reaches the ground as liquid water drops is known as rain.


Drizzle: 

Precipitation happens in the form of rain but liquid water drops are smaller than those of rain. It is generally less than or equal to 0.5 mm in diameter. This type of precipitation is known as Drizzle.


Mist:

Mist is a type of precipitation that is similar to fog, but it is less dense. Mist is one kind of precipitation that creates foggy conditions.


Snowfall:

When the temperature becomes less than zero degrees, no melting happens, and precipitation happens in the form of snow, this type of precipitation is known as snowfall. In the winter season, snowfall is common in Jammu and Kashmir.


Sleet:

Precipitation in the form of a mixture of rain and snow is called Sleet.

Sleet precipitation happens when snow melts in shallow warm air and refreeze before reaching the surface.


Hail:

Hail is a form of precipitation consisting of solid ice.
