Code of Ethics:
A code of ethics is a set of broad principles or values that guide behaviour. For example, probity, honesty, integrity, impartiality, etc., are codes of ethics for administration. It tells us what is right and what to do.
Code of Conduct:
Code of Conduct is a set of specific rules and guidelines that a person must follow in their job. It tells us what to do and what not to do. For example, no birbery, punctuality, etc.
Integrity:
Integrity means being honest, truthful, and consistent in actions and values, even when no one is watching.
In public administration, both the Code of Ethics and the Code of Conduct are important to ensure that officials act in the public interest.
Difference between Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct
The following are major differences:
1. Nature:
Codes of ethics are general principles ( for example, Integrity, impartiality), whereas the Code of Conduct has specific rules ( No bribery, follow rules, punctuality) for a special purpose.
