Magnets
Shepherd named mages, who lived in ancient Greece found the natural Magnet rock.
Magnets have the property of attracting pieces of iron
There are two types of Magnets

  • Natural
  • Artificial

The artificial magnet can be made in different shaped like:

  • Bar Magnet
  • Horseshoe Magnet
  • Cylindrical



Magnetic Materials
The Materials which get attracted to magnets are magnetic. For example, Iron, Nickel or Cobalt.

Non-Magnetic Material
The Materials which are not attracted to magnets are magnetic. For example, wood, fiber, cotton.

When the magnet is rubbed to the soil?
The iron filling is attracted more towards the region close to the end of bar magnets.

Magnetic Pole

  • North pole: 
    • End of magnet that points towards north.
  • South pole: 
    • End of magnet that points towards South.


How to make your own Magnets?

  • Take a rectangular piece of Iron and place it to table
  • Take bar magnets and move to on rectangular-shaped of iron 30 to 40 times unidirectionally.
  • Your Magnets is ready


Few Cautions:
Magnets lose their property if:

  • Heated
  • Hampered
  • Dropped from height
