Without light, the object cant be seen

Luminous objects

An object like Sun hat give out or emit light of their own are called luminous objects.


Transparent object

It allows all the light to pass through it. Hense, does not create a shadow. Through it, the object is clearly visible. For example, Glass, water, air.
Translucent

It does not allow all the light to pass through it. Through it, the object is not clearly visible. For example, wax paper.



Opaque
 do not allow to pass the light through it and it creates the shadow of the object. Through it, the object is not visible at all. Example, Iron, stone


Shadow

  • Ned a source of light and an opaque object.
  • No shadow if no lights.
  • No shadow for a transparent and translucent object
  • Shadow can be seen only on-screen( i.e. ground, wall, object)
  • It is only in black color
  • It gives us some information about the shape of an object.



A Pinhole Camera

  • It can be made at home by using two boxes of cardboard.
  • Slide the small box inside the large box.
  • On the small box, there will be a large hole and a large box there will be a small hole and both holes should be parallel.



Mirror and Reflections

  • What you see is a reflection of your face in the mirror.
  • Sometimes wee sees the reflection of trees in building and other objects.
