Griffith Taylor town classification UPSC

Taylor's classification of town is based on the age, land use & development of the city. As per Taylor, the following types of towns are: 

  • Infant town: Dominance of the commercial sector 
  • Juvenile town: Mix pattern of commercial & residential sector 
  • Adolescent town: There are residential areas around the commercial hub. 
  • Early mature town: Segregation of commercial & residential area. 
  • Mature town: Agglomeration of many functions such as commercial, communication, information technology, residential, and different services in one place.
