The idea of ​​India gives the following perception:

Apart from the territory, people are a very important component of a country, so India is not just a territory. India is the second most populous country after China. According to the 2011 Population Census, the population of India is 1210 million which is more than the combined population of North America, South America, and Australia.

Yes, India manifests an amalgam of people and is a land of both - socio-cultural diversity such as linguistic, religious, and ethnic diversity and socio-economic diversity.

Yes, there are people living under federal institutions of governance in Indian territory. Our constitution provides for three levels of federalism - central, state, and local government. The central government works for the whole of India, and the states and union territories work for their respective regions. As of now (July 2022), there are 28 states and 8 union territories in India.
