What are the biotic and abiotic resources? Give some examples.

Answer.

Things that are useful to human beings and are technically accessible, economically viable, and culturally acceptable are called resources. Examples of resources are forests, water, human, soil, etc.


On the basis of origin, resources are of two types – biotic and abiotic.

Biotic resources are those resources that are derived from the biosphere and contain life such as animals, plants, humans, and micro-organisms. Examples of biotic resources are forests, fishes, wild animals, crops, humans, livestock, etc.


Abiotic resources are those resources that are made up of non-living things. Examples of abiotic resources are rocks, climate, rainfall, sunlight, moisture, metals, soil, water, air, etc.
