Answer. 

The name of the southwest coast of India is the Malabar Coast, which includes the Karnataka and Kerala coasts. Sometimes mainly the Kerala coast is named the Malabar Coast.


The South West Monsoon [summer monsoon] winds account for rainfall along the Malabar coast. The southern part of the Malabar Coast and Shillong is the first to receive rainfall from the southwest monsoon, around 1 June every year.


The Arabian branch of the southwest monsoon winds accounts for rainfall along the Malabar coast.
