Question.

Give reasons, why do wet clothes take a longer time to dry on a humid day?

( Chapter - 4 Air, Class 7 NCERT, Our Environment( Geography) )

Answer.

The amount of water vapor in the air at any point in time is called humidity. The day when the air is full of water vapor, we call a humid day.

When the temperature of the air increases, the water-holding capacity of the air also increases, so it becomes more and more humid.

Wet clothes take longer time to dry on a humid day because the air on a humid day is almost saturated with water vapor and takes time to absorb more water vapor. That is, the rate of evaporation slows down on a humid day. This is why wet clothes take longer to dry on a humid day
