उत्तर।
पौधे और जीव जंतु पर्यावरण के जैविक घटक के दो प्रमुख घटक हैं। पौधे (पेड़, घास, जड़ी-बूटियाँ, झाड़ियाँ और काई) और जीव जंतु (पशु, पक्षी, मछली, कीड़े और सूक्ष्मजीव) जीवित रहने के लिए एक दूसरे पर आश्रित हैं। बिना पौधों के जीव जंतु नहीं रह सकते और बिना जीव जंतु के पौधे नहीं रह सकते हैं।
पौधे और जीव जंतु निम्नलिखित कारणों से एक दूसरे पर आश्रित हैं:
पौधे स्वपोषी हैं जिसका अर्थ है कि वे जैविक समुदायों में भोजन के प्राथमिक उत्पादक हैं।
पौधे प्रकाश संश्लेषण के दौरान ऑक्सीजन भी छोड़ते हैं जो जीव जंतु के लिए जीवन रक्षक गैस है।
पौधे जंतुओं जैसे पक्षी और विभिन्न जीव जंतु को आश्रय प्रदान करते हैं।
इसलिए जानवर भोजन, आश्रय और ऑक्सीजन के लिए प्रत्यक्ष और अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से पौधों पर निर्भर हैं।
पशु उर्वरक, कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड (CO2), और अन्य खनिज प्रदान करके प्रकाश संश्लेषण में पौधों की सहायता करते हैं। खनिज पुनर्चक्रण और उर्वरक सूक्ष्मजीवों (बैक्टीरिया और केंचुए) की मदद से मृदा में प्राप्त करते हैं जो एक प्रकार के जानवर हैं।
सभी जीव जंतु पर्यावरण में कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड का उत्सर्जन करते हैं जो पौधों को प्रकाश संश्लेषण में मदद करता है।
CO2 और खनिज पुनर्चक्रण के अलावा, जीव जंतु यांत्रिक अपक्षय प्रक्रियाओं के माध्यम से मिट्टी के निर्माण की प्रक्रिया में भी मदद करते हैं जिससे पौधों की वृद्धि में मदद मिलती है।
जीव जंतु परागण और बीजों के फैलाव के माध्यम से भी पौधों की मदद करते हैं।
उपरोक्त कारणों से हम कह सकते हैं कि पौधे और जीव जंतु एक दूसरे पर आश्रित हैं।

In every ecosystem, a perfect balance is maintained, while transferring energy and matter between the distinct constituents, known as ecological balance.
