( Chapter 7: Human Environment–Settlement, Transport, and Communication, Class 7- Our Environment ( GEOGRAPHY), SOCIAL SCIENCE)

Answer.

Today the world seems to be shrinking because of advances in technology, communication, and transportation. Because advancements in technology, communication, and transportation made it much easier and faster to travel or connect to any part of the earth.

There are many reasons why we feel that the world is shrinking today. Some of the major reasons are as follows:

Globalization:

The increased flow of goods, services, capital, and information across borders has interconnected economies worldwide. This globalization has made it easier for people to access products and ideas from different parts of the world.

Technology:

The internet and digital communication tools have revolutionized how people connect and share information. Social media, email, video conferencing, and instant messaging have made it possible to communicate with anyone, anywhere in real time.

Air Travel:

The availability of affordable air travel has made it quicker and more convenient for people to travel across long distances. This has led to increased international tourism, business travel, and cultural exchanges.

Transportation Infrastructure:

Improved transportation infrastructure, including highways, railways, and ports, has facilitated the movement of goods and people across continents more efficiently.

Cultural Exchange:

The ease of accessing foreign movies, music, literature, and cuisine through media and the internet has contributed to a greater appreciation of diverse cultures and ideas.

Trade Agreements:

Bilateral and multilateral trade agreements have reduced trade barriers, making it easier for countries to trade with one another. This has increased the availability of a wider variety of products globally.

International Collaboration:

Collaboration among countries on issues like climate change, public health, and security highlights the interconnectedness of nations and their shared responsibilities.

Migration:

The movement of people across borders for work, education, and other reasons has created more culturally diverse societies and increased global awareness.

Environmental Awareness:

Environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution, and resource depletion are global issues that affect all nations. This has fostered a sense of shared responsibility and cooperation.

These factors contribute to the perception that today's world is shrinking.
