There are three major Himalayan rivers that are:
- Indus river
- Ganga river
- Brahmaputra
The following are characteristics of the Himalayan river:
- They are originated from Himalayan Glaciers.
- They are perennial rivers.
- They make deep v-shaped valley called a deep gorge.
- They are the antecedent river.
- They make large drainage basins.
- In the upper coarse, they do intense erosion activities.
- In middle coarse, they form meanders, oxbow lakes, and large plain.
- In lower coarse, they deposit larges amounts of silt and form the large delta at the mouth of the river.
