(Class 12 geography, Fundamentals of Human GeographyChapter - 4. Human Development )

Answer.

The concept of human development was developed by Mahbub-ul-Haq and Amartya Sen. According to Mahbub-ul-Haq, human development is such a development that increases the choices of human beings and makes human life meaningful and civilized.

As far as equity and sustainable sustainability are concerned, both are two of the four components of human development. Human development has four components – equity, sustainability, productivity, and empowerment.

As far as equity is concerned, equity means equal access to all available opportunities to all populations irrespective of differences in race, race, age, sex, and socioeconomic status. For example, giving girls equal access to education, health facilities, and job opportunities as boys.

As far as sustainable sustainability is concerned, it means the continuity of opportunities available to each generation of society over time. All resources, whether natural, financial, or human, should be used with a view to the future. The misuse of these resources will reduce opportunities for the coming generation. Sustainability also includes the continuity of government policies that provide opportunities available to all generations, regardless of changes in government.

Both equity and sustainable sustainability not only improve the choices and standard of living of the people of the present generation but also ensure the opportunities of the future generation.
