Answer. 

One of the characteristics of India's monsoon rainfall is its variability. Variation in rainfall means irregularity in rainfall in a year; Some years there is more rainfall and some years less rainfall. The average annual rainfall of India is about 125 cm, however, there is spatial variation. The actual rainfall in some places deviates from 10-70 percent.


Rajasthan, Gujarat, western Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, the central part of Maharashtra, and the interior of the peninsular plateau have rainfall variability of more than 50 percent rainfall.
