Summary of Chapter 2: "The Cap-Seller and the Monkeys"

The story is about a cap-seller who used to travel from place to place selling caps. One day, while he was walking, he felt tired and decided to rest under a tree, keeping his basket of caps beside him.

While he was asleep, some monkeys living on the tree came down, opened his basket, and took all the caps, wearing them on their heads.

When the cap-seller woke up, he was shocked to see his basket empty and the monkeys wearing his caps. He tried to make them return the caps by shaking his fists and scratching his head, and the monkeys imitated every action he did.

Suddenly, the cap-seller got an idea. He removed his own cap and threw it into the basket. The monkeys copied him and threw their caps into the basket too.

The clever cap-seller collected all his caps and went away happily and relieved.

Moral of the Story:

Let us read:

" Catch me if you can"

catch me if you can

A fat cat sat

on a mat.

“I can catch you, little rat”,

said the cat.

A little rat saw her,

and hid in a hat.

“No, no, you can’t”,

said the rat.

The cat ran to

catch the rat.

The rat ran and

hid in a box.

The lid of the box did

not open.

“Ha, ha! You can’t catch me, big

cat!”, said the rat.

Summary:

The poem is about a fat cat who wants to catch a little rat. The cat proudly says she can catch the rat, but the clever little rat hides — first in a hat, then in a box. The cat tries hard to catch him, but fails. The rat laughs and says, “Ha ha! You can’t catch me, big cat!”
